The last post of my mini black and white series from my travels last year! A recap – I travelled from Grenoble – Geneva – Istanbul – Cappadocia in the autumn of 2022 and took snippets of my travels in a single roll of Kodak TMAX 400.

Aya Sofya was our favourite historical site during our visit to Istanbul. If you’re only picking one place in your visit to Istanbul, pick Aya Sofya! I eventually did buy a roll of colour film on my last day in Istanbul. You can see those photos in the links at the bottom of this post.

Some lessons from this trip:
- Film rolls are not THAT sensitive to X-rays/ CT scans at the airport.
- All of my rolls survived my travels, and was developed and scanned when I arrived back in Perth.
- I should have taken MORE photos!
- I regret not taking more photos with my film camera! I was saving my shots because I had no idea how the films will react through several security checks, and I did not bring any rolls of film. I bought this black and white one in Grenoble, and an additional one in Istanbul.
I’ll be travelling less this year, but I am blessed to be able to travel to these places in the midst of completing my PhD. Til next time folks!
