Cappadocia

Houses, windows and pigeon nests carved into a large volcanic rocks

Cappadocia was the highlight of my trip to Turkey last year. Overall it was a unique experience, and I’m glad we could fit in such an action-packed, three-day trip to such a beautiful destination!

We took a day tour on our first day. I’d recommend taking a tour if you want to look around the Goreme region in a short amount of time! We had an excellent cohort with us, and our guide was very friendly and upbeat. Highlights of the tour include visiting the various cave churches along the Ilhara Valley and hiking up a hill to the Selime Monastery.

The next day, we woke up very early to check out the hot air balloons. Our original booking for the ride was cancelled due to bad weather, but we managed to get our booking rescheduled for the following morning. I, unfortunately, did not take any film photos during the hot air balloon ride or the green tour, but I will add a gallery of photos I took on a digital camera (Lumix G Vario) from this trip at the end of this post.

The tiny windows carved into a the rocks are actually nesting areas for pigeons!
A view from the hotel porch
Resident hotel kitty!

And as promised, the photos I took on my Lumix:

I still daydream about this trip to Turkey. Thanks for reading folks!
